Feature ideas

Dear Port team, I'd like to request a feature that allows users to display East Asian names with surnames appearing before given names. This would better accommodate naming conventions from countries like Korea, China, and Japan, where family names traditionally precede given names. Currently, the system displays all names in Western format (given name first). Adding a display option would: Respect cultural naming traditions Improve name accuracy for East Asian users Enhance user experience for global teams Could you consider implementing this feature in an upcoming release? As a non admin user, it feels odd to see a message like "Check your data sources or add {entity name}s manually." when there are no records to display. While a different message might make more sense globally (or even distinguishing between user roles, since the current message seems more targeted at actions that an admin could take), there could also be value in allowing for a Table widget instance-specific message to be displayed when no matching entities are available to display (e.g., "You have no pull requests waiting on you!" for a list of pull requests assigned to you, or even a message that both highlights no matching entities and adds instructions for what the user should do when that situation is unexpected/undesirable: "No matching repos for your team, please ____")

Enable a "Share" option for each screen/dashboard that allows users to share a custom view with all applied filters, without requiring them to click the "Save" button. We would like the ability to quickly share a filtered view of a screen or dashboard with other users without needing to save it as a named view. This can be achieved by encoding the filter state in the URL as query parameters or using another method, such as generating a shareable link with the current filter context embedded. Example Use Case: A user applies several filters to narrow down data on a dashboard. They click "Share," and a link is generated that preserves the current filter state. They send the link to a colleague, who can open it and see the exact same filtered view. This feature would enhance collaboration and improve usability by making it faster to share insights without requiring saved views.

I think it would be helpful for UX to be able to change its own profile image directly in Port UI.

Port's demo at https://demo.getport.io/ is a great resource to get ideas for things to build in Port! There is already a capability to copy demo JSON but it would be nice if there was a way to directly export demo examples into a Port organization.

Allow categorizing self service actions for ease of finding appropriate actions for your needs.

Additional Filters, Builders, Blueprints contain JSON and YAML. The inputs tend to show the data in a way that it is hard to read by a human. Either a way to prettify or to render prettified data by default would be the goal.

At the moment, changing the column width does not bring up a “save” icon as in other places and every refresh it gets back to the default settings.

Having to delete more than 10 entries on a page is TEDIOUS. I would love to multi-select and delete an entire group or groups at once or at least all of the resources on the page at once.
